Dispatch

DISPATCH

Privacy policy.

Dispatch runs on your Mac and connects straight to your mail provider. Nobody else, including its developer, receives your mail or your data.

What Dispatch accesses

When you sign in with Google, Dispatch receives:

  • access to your Gmail mailbox (scope https://mail.google.com/), to read, search, organise and delete your messages over IMAP and to send mail over SMTP;
  • your name and email address (scopes openid, email and profile), to label the account and to put your name on mail you send.

How Dispatch uses it

Dispatch uses this access only to show you your mail and to do what you ask: open, search, mark, star, move, archive and delete messages, and send the mail you write. It does nothing with your mail in the background beyond checking for new messages.

Where your data goes

  • Dispatch connects from your Mac directly to Google (imap.gmail.com, smtp.gmail.com and Google's sign-in servers). There is no Dispatch server.
  • Dispatch has no analytics, no ads and no tracking, and it sends no data to its developer or to anyone else.
  • Images in a message you open load from wherever the sender put them, as in any mail client, so the sender can see that the message was opened.
  • When you add an address that is not with Google or Microsoft, Dispatch looks up the domain of the address (not the address itself) in DNS and in Thunderbird's public database of mail servers (autoconfig.thunderbird.net) to find its servers.

What Dispatch stores

Your mail stays on Google's servers; Dispatch fetches messages when you open them and keeps no copy of your mailbox. On your Mac, in ~/Library/Application Support/Dispatch, Dispatch keeps your name, your address, your mail servers and the sign-in token Google issues. The token is encrypted with a key macOS keeps in your Keychain.

Sharing

Dispatch does not sell, share or transfer data it receives from Google to anyone. It does not use that data for advertising, nobody reads it, and it is not used to develop, improve or train AI or machine learning models.

Dispatch's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Removing your data

Remove the account in Dispatch to delete its stored details and token from your Mac. To withdraw Dispatch's access at Google, remove it under Third-party apps and services in your Google account.
